Château des Cars
The Château des Cars stands in the commune of Les Cars, in the Haute-Vienne. Damaged by fire and repeatedly looted, it was used as a stone quarry, and its stones can still be recognised in many houses in the village.
Only remains survive, including a 13th-century tower, two imposing 15th-century towers, two pavilions and a ditch. A lapidary room displays objects found during excavations: coins, carved stones, pottery, gargoyles… A little further on stand fine stables, built before the Revolution by a lord of Les Cars.
