Château de Chalucet
The castle of Châlucet, or Chalusset, brings together on one site a castrum founded around 1130, Bas-Châlucet, and a new castle, Haut-Châlucet, from the last third of the 13th century. Its remains stand in the commune of Saint-Jean-Ligoure, in the Haute-Vienne, and are managed by the Haute-Vienne département.
At the top of the spur, Haut-Châlucet is a superb example of a late 13th-century seigneurial residence. Its military features, such as its screen wall and circulation passage, and its crenellated, machicolated gate tower, are remarkable. The site, perched on a wooded promontory, also offers pleasant walks.
