Château de Selves
The Château de Selves, in the Aveyron, is first mentioned in 1522. The square building probably had a tower at each corner. The south-east tower contains the spiral staircase and is the only one to keep a machicolation and its original roof; the south-west tower has kept its corbels. The chapel dates from 1625, and the interior décor of painted panelling from the 18th century.
It belonged to the Selves family, after the Gausserand family, lords of La Vinzelle and Lamothe. Towards the end of the 17th century it passed by marriage to the Cambefort family, then to the Trédolat family. A justice of the peace from Maurs bought it at auction and sold it in 1913 to Julien Poujade. It still belongs to the Poujade family and was listed as a historic monument in 1992.
