Château de Saint-Malo
Building of the ducal castle of Saint-Malo began in 1424 with the 35-metre horseshoe-shaped Great Keep. Crowned with machicolations, the keep has a covered gallery on its top floor, whose roof is topped by two adjoining watch turrets. Duke Francis II then had the Tour Générale built to the south-west. Next, his daughter Duchess Anne of Brittany had the Quic-en-Groigne tower raised to the north-west, completed in 1505.
