Château de Puymartin
The château de Puymartin is in the commune of Marquay, near Sarlat-la-Canéda, in the Dordogne. It is protected as a historic monument. Built around 1270 and once surrounded below by a village of the same name, it served as a border between France and England when the Hundred Years' War began; it was then pillaged, stripped of its crenellations, ramparts, towers and roofs.
It was taken back in 1450 by Radulphe de Saint-Clar. The château is a few kilometres from Sarlat and is discovered on a guided visit.
