Château de Pierre-de-Bresse

Saône-et-Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The château de Pierre-de-Bresse, a seventeenth-century building constructed by the Counts of Thiard, now belongs to the Saône-et-Loire Département. It is surrounded by a park of about 30 hectares, freely accessible and good for walking.

Since 1981 it has housed the Ecomuseum of the Burgundian Bresse, whose mission is to study, protect and enhance the area's natural and cultural heritage. The exhibitions evoke the traditional life and history of the Burgundian Bresse.

In season the site offers guided tours, family workshops during school holidays and events. Pierre-de-Bresse is in the east of Saône-et-Loire, on the edge of the Jura.
