Château de Bresse-sur-Grosne
The origins of the Château de Bresse-sur-Grosne, in the Saône-et-Loire, are unknown, but a bull of Pope Alexander III dated 1180 already mentions it. The château consists of a central block and two return wings, once surrounded by a ditch that is still partly visible. The surviving parts date from the 14th century (the keep) and the 16th and 17th centuries; the château was restored in the 19th century by Sanson.
To the east lie large wine-making outbuildings built in the 17th century by the monks of the Abbey of La Ferté.
