Château de Pesteils

Cantal, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Château de Pesteils, the old fortress of Polminhac, is a medieval castle in the Cantal, listed as a historic monument in 1994. It stands on a rocky promontory above the Cère valley, in a remarkable setting, with buildings of the 13th, 17th and 19th centuries.

Its 15th-century frescoes, 17th-century painted ceilings, furniture, tapestries and paintings recall the past of this seigneurial residence. The keep, about forty metres high, offers a wide view of the Cantal mountains. The park and its surroundings extend the visit, which combines well with the upper Cère valley and Vic-sur-Cère.
