Château de Montjeu
The château de Montjeu is in the commune of Broye in Saône-et-Loire, in a park occupied by forest, ponds and gardens, on the mountain overlooking Autun.
The construction includes a main building framed by two wings at right angles flanked at the corners by four square pavilions. Dressed stones mark the building corners and window frames. A door framed with bossages and topped with a broken pediment opens onto the courtyard at the centre of the lodging.
Ditches around the château and gun ports in the pavilions on each side of the entrance alone evoke defensive elements. In the south wing is the chapel lined with panelling and adorned with paintings. To the north, the outbuildings form an imposing group around a courtyard, with gate, monumental drinking trough and dovecote.
