Château de Mauriac
The Château de Mauriac, in the Tarn, is a 14th-century military fortress linked to the Templars, in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards. It made its fortune from woad, the blue dye plant that brought wealth to the Pays de Cocagne.
It has a superb 400 m² Renaissance inner courtyard with eight mullioned windows. More than 45 years of restoration have earned it a star in the Michelin Green Guide and a place among France's 50 most beautiful houses according to Art et Décoration.
