Château de Foucaud (musée des Beaux-Arts de Gaillac)
Built in the 17th century for Jacques and then Arnaud de Foucaud, this red-brick château overlooks the Tarn from a series of terraces inspired by the famous Villa d'Este near Rome. In 1722, it passed by marriage to the d'Huteau family, which gave it its second name, before being sold to the town of Gaillac in 1903. The château, its reading pavilion and the park are listed historic monuments.
Restored in the 1990s, it houses Gaillac's Fine Arts Museum, devoted in particular to painters and sculptors of the region from the 17th to the 20th century. The park, freely accessible, descends in terraces towards the river around a large pond and hosts many open-air events. A pleasant stop in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards.
