Château de Maulnes
The Château de Maulnes, at Cruzy-le-Châtel in the Yonne, is a Renaissance building constructed in the second half of the 16th century by influential patrons. Its pentagonal plan is organised around a central staircase and a well fed by three springs, making it a unique monument of French architecture.
Over the centuries it has had various uses. Despite the ravages of time and people, it has kept a sense of mystery and poetry. The château is protected as a historic monument. It is open in season, from early April to mid-November according to the sources, and hosts temporary exhibitions, such as one devoted to Leonardo da Vinci in 2026. It is reached from Cruzy-le-Châtel by the D12 towards Arthonnay.
