Château de Chastellux
Owned by the same family for more than a thousand years, the Château de Chastellux, in the Yonne, is a fortress flanked by eight towers that has been steadily embellished over the centuries.
Many members of the family left their mark on French history, notably in the time of Joan of Arc, when the Burgundians fought the French, and during the American War of Independence, with the Marquis de Chastellux, a close friend of General Washington and cousin of La Fayette. Several rooms can be visited, including the guardroom, the library and the portrait salon.
