Château de Laroque
Before the vandalism of the 19th century, the Château de Laroque, in the Cantal, had, besides the present residence, a second building at right angles to it, joining the keep to the south. Forming a postern to the south stood the Moussou tower, whose base can be seen at the top of the access stairway; it was linked by a drawbridge to the castle chapel of Notre-Dame, a small oratory in the square tower, pulled down in 1653, on top of the volcanic plug called the Rocher del Moussou.
In 1562 the Protestants attacked the castle, which held out. In 1794 it was sold as national property.
