Château de Conros
Since the early Middle Ages, the Château de Conros, in the Cantal, has stood on its rocky spur above a magnificent, wild bend of the Cère. The imposing medieval keep, flanked by a main building and two round towers, was transformed in the Renaissance into a stately residence.
The beauty and purity of its architecture make it a harmonious whole, set off by a fine romantic park with century-old trees and fragrant flowers. Conros houses the exhibition 'Ode aux Parfums' and a museum of arts and traditions. Robert d'Humières, born at Conros and grandfather of the present owners, translated the works of Rudyard Kipling, including The Jungle Book.
