Château de La Vigne
First a Merovingian castrum, then a medieval fortress, the Château de La Vigne at Ally, in the Cantal, was rebuilt in the 15th century by the lords of Scorailles, facing a vast panorama. It consists of living quarters and towers, crowned with a machicolated wall walk.
In period settings, the visit recalls the stay of the Princess of Condé and that of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1767. The château lies on the Paris meridian, celebrated in the year 2000 as the 'Méridienne verte', which is explained during the tour. Still furnished and lived in, it bears witness to the rich past of Haute-Auvergne.
The visit also features a retrospective of the history of the motor car through some 3,500 model cars and old toys, many model aircraft and more than 700 dolls from 70 countries.
