Château de La Trémolière
In the village of Anglards-de-Salers, in the Cantal, this 15th-century château was the seat of a seigneury belonging to the Montclar family.
Its two floors display the ten 16th-century verdure tapestries of the 'Bestiaire fantastique', listed as historic monuments, discovered in the early 20th century by the parish priest and restored in 1926. These exceptional tapestries show an abundant, naive and picturesque bestiary, with unicorns, dragons, 'cabbage leaves', villages and castles, standing out beautifully against finely painted 18th-century panelling.
The visit also includes the Verger de Déduit, a contemporary medieval-inspired garden labelled Jardin remarquable, born of the meeting between the imagery of the tapestries and that of the Roman de la Rose.
