Château de la Seilleraye
The Château de la Seilleraye is a 17th-century building at Carquefou, near Nantes, in the heart of a wooded park. Built in 1671 for Guillaume d'Harouys by the architect Jacques Caris, it was completed in 1730, while its gardens were redesigned in 1816. Madame de Sévigné stayed here in 1675.
The château, with its outbuildings, gateway and gate, has been listed as a historic monument since 1994, and the park with its follies was registered the same year. Inside, fine 18th-century panelling covers important paintings. The visit reveals a fine example of a large country house near Nantes, in pleasant green surroundings.
