Château de Clermont

Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire

The Château de Clermont stands at Le Cellier, upstream from Nantes, on the north bank of the Loire. It consists of a central block and two wings of brick and tufa under slate roofs, and a 17th-century chapel with turrets and corbelling. The whole has been listed as a historic monument since 1925.

The château and its main courtyard are private and not open to visitors. The park, however, opens at certain times: it has historic gardens, a 19th-century mill and a viewpoint over the Loire towards the Pays de Retz and the Mauges. Guided walks such as 'Tours et détours' are held during heritage events; booking is recommended.
