Château de Chassay
A castle is said to have existed at Chassay, in the Loire-Atlantique, as early as 550. A document dated 1096 mentions the castle owned by the bishops of Nantes at Chasseil, the old name of Chassay.
In the mid-15th century Bishop Amaury d'Arcigné had it surrounded by moats, but Francis II of Brittany seized it and turned it into a hunting lodge; it was only returned to the bishopric in 1500.
