Château de Goulaine
The Château de Goulaine, at Haute-Goulaine on the edge of Nantes, is both a Breton château and a Loire château. Rebuilt in the 15th century on the remains of an old fortress, it has remained the home of the family that gave it its name, except between 1788 and 1858, when a member of the family bought the estate back.
Some rooms can be visited, only with a guide. A tropical butterfly house is set up in a greenhouse. The château also offers family activities: treasure hunts, costumed tours and children's workshops. The estate lies in the Nantes vineyards, on the Muscadet wine route.
