Château de Bois-Briand
The Château de Bois-Briand is a medieval ensemble in Nantes, in the Doulon-Bottière district. Founded in the Middle Ages (sources mention the 14th century, others the year 1405), it has kept its medieval structures despite later gardens and 17th- and 18th-century buildings.
It originally stood on the bank of the Loire, at the mouth of the Aubinière; the river has since moved away. The medieval castle became a pleasure residence when the Charette family sold it in 1699 to the Le Meneust des Treilles family. The name was formerly spelt Bois-Briant or Bois-Brient.
The property received a national monument label in 2008. Its orangery is now available for receptions and business events.
