Château de la Chaize
The château de La Chaize is a castle at Odenas, in the Rhône, the largest of the wine châteaux of the region. The building, built to plans by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, and the gardens, designed by Le Nôtre, lie on the slopes of the Beaujolais hills, in the Brouilly appellation. It was built from 1674 to 1676 and remained in the La Chaize d'Aix family.
Since 1967, it has been the property of the Marquise de Roussy de Sales, who from 1968 undertook major restoration work. Since 1972, the site, with the castle, the cellar and the gardens, has been protected. You visit the gardens, the cellar and the interiors.
