Château de Kerouzéré
The Château de Kerouzéré, at Sibiril in the Finistère, was built between 1425 and 1458 by Jean de Kérouzéré, chamberlain of Duke John V of Brittany, on the site of an old feudal motte.
This granite fortress originally had four corner towers linked by crenellated curtain walls and was reached by a drawbridge over water-filled moats. It lost its south-west tower and curtain wall in a second siege in 1590, before being restored on the orders of Henry IV. Listed as a historic monument since 1883, it is today one of the few 15th-century fortresses in Brittany that can still be visited.
