Château de Craincourt

Moselle, Grand Est

The Château de Craincourt, in the Moselle, is a rectangular building supported by two square pavilions at the ends of the west façade and a round tower at the north-east corner. The outbuildings, altered in the 19th century, frame the courtyard, closed to the north by a wall with a square dovecote; the wall is pierced by a gateway into the estate.

The basket-arched carriage gate is framed by Ionic pilasters supporting a moulded entablature crowned by a curved pediment dated 1728, with defaced coat of arms. The dovecote, already restored in the 19th century, underwent major repairs completed in 1990. The residence still has its 15th-century elevation under a gabled roof; despite alterations, its 15th-century structure can be seen in several places.
