Château de Budos
The castle of Budos, in the Gironde, was built by Raymond-Guilhem, nephew of Pope Clement V, in the early 14th century. In 1571 it was sold to the La Roque family, who kept it until the Revolution.
In 1789 it was sold as national property, stripped and then used as a stone quarry by local farmers. It was a ruin when a descendant of the La Roque family bought it back in 1860.
Listed as a historic monument since 1988, the castle is now being restored by the Adichats association.
