Château d'Ingrandes
The Château d'Ingrandes stands in the village of Ingrandes, in the Indre, 7 km west of Le Blanc, on the site of a Roman castrum on the Bourges-Poitiers road. This 11th-century feudal castle above the River Anglin has kept a keep and a vaulted cellar, and was remodelled in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Henry IV gave it to Antoine d'Aloigny, whose descendant Marie-Henriette built the 17th-century residence and the village church in 1698; the tax farmer Claude Dupin, George Sand's great-grandfather, became its owner in 1739. Listed as a historic monument since 1987, it has been restored by its present owners for more than thirty-five years.
