Château d'Azay-le-Ferron
The Château d'Azay-le-Ferron, in the Indre, on the edge of the Brenne, consists of four parts built at different periods: the Frotier tower (late 15th century), the Humières wing (mid-17th), the Francis I pavilion (16th) and the Breteuil pavilion (18th). The outbuildings, known as the Cingé wing, date from the 17th century.
The commune lies within the Brenne Regional Nature Park, a land of ponds and hedged fields. Its different building periods make the château a living record of architectural development from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. The visit combines well with the Brenne park and its ponds.
