Chaos de Camp Rouch
On the Causse du Larzac, around Le Caylar in the Hérault, erosion has carved several rock formations with ruin-like shapes out of the dolomite: Le Caylar, Le Cros, Camp Rouch and La Pezade. These masses of blocks, shaped by dissolution and runoff over millions of years, form a karst landscape typical of the Grands Causses.
Nearby, the formation bordering the seasonal lake of Les Rives stands out for its natural stone arch. The whole area is part of the Causses and Cévennes, a UNESCO World Heritage site as a cultural landscape of Mediterranean agro-pastoralism.
