Castelnou
In the Roussillon plain, south-west of Perpignan, this old fortified village nestles at the foot of a former feudal castle remodelled in the last century. The remains of its thirteenth-century ramparts surround cobbled lanes, lined with ochre-tinted houses, set off by ivy and oleanders.
A number of artists and craftsmen have found a setting suited to their activities, which contribute to the liveliness of this winegrowing commune where you can taste the excellent red wines produced in the region.
