Canyon du Diable
The Canyon du Diable lies in the commune of Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière, in the Hérault, in the heart of the Lodévois, an area marked by the 'ruffes', red sandstones and clays dating from the Permian.
Erosion has carved these soft rocks into a group of small canyons and strangely shaped, almost surreal reliefs, which contrast with the surrounding garrigue. This glowing red mineral landscape, close to the Rocher des Vierges and not far from Lac du Salagou, is discovered on a walk popular with hikers and photographers.
