Arromanches 360

Calvados, Normandie

Arromanches 360 is a circular cinema on Rue du Calvaire, on the heights of Arromanches-les-Bains (Calvados), facing the remains of one of the two artificial harbours set up by the Allies after the Landings. The place is operated in connection with the Caen Memorial.

The projection is on nine screens arranged in a circle, which surround the viewer. The film shown is devoted to the Battle of Normandy, whose hundred days are told through archive footage shot in 1944, from Canadian, American, German, British and French sources, many of them little known. The previous version, shown since 2013 and made by Isabelle Clarke and Daniel Costelle, combined archive images and present-day images. Subtitles are offered in several languages.

The screening is short, of the order of twenty minutes, and aimed at all audiences. It is a visual introduction to visiting the Landing sites, near the Landing Museum and the Arromanches beach.
