Abbaye de Montivilliers
Located north of the Seine, halfway between Honfleur and Étretat, Montivilliers abbey is among the most beautiful and prestigious abbeys of Normandy. Entirely restored, Montivilliers abbey stands out for its audio-guided scenographic route: "COEUR D'ABBAYES". Unique in Normandy, it lets everyone discover the eventful destiny of "the city of abbesses" in medieval Normandy. The scenography also bears witness to the major role of abbeys in regional history and their formidable architectural evolution.
A tourist and cultural crossroads, the site also offers a set of visits, lectures and themed activities as well as temporary exhibitions to discover throughout the year. To complete the visit: THE ABBEY WALK, an audio-guided pedestrian circuit in the old town of Montivilliers retraces life in medieval times through the rich Montivilliers heritage: covered markets, Hôtel-Dieu and the old fifteenth-century charnel house – known as the aître de Brisgaret, among others.
THE ABBEY SUNDAYS group under one name an offer of themed visits organised each first Sunday of the month: religious and civil architecture, monastic world, daily life in the Middle Ages, so many subjects approached from unusual angles in the form of classic guided tours but also through practical workshops to do as a family.
