Manoir de Villers

Seine-Maritime, Normandie

The Manoir de Villers is at Saint-Pierre-de-Manneville, in the Seine-Maritime, in a loop of the Seine near Rouen. The façades and roofs of the main building and the chapel have been registered as historic monuments since 6 August 1997.

The manor began in 1581 as a stone house with a half-timbered upper floor. In 1764 Antoine-Michel Blondel acquired the Villers estate, which he left in 1784 to his nephew Michel-Louis Mery. Over time the building was remodelled as a Neo-Norman manor, with roofs inspired by Rouen houses and trompe-l'œil façades, the work of the architect Charles Lassire. The estate still belongs to the Mery de Bellegarde family, and its gardens hold the 'Jardin Remarquable' label. Visiting arrangements are not confirmed by a recent source.
