Ventron
Ventron is a village of the High Vosges, in the Vosges département, at the foot of the Hohneck massif and near Alsace. Its small family resort, near the Ermitage Frère Joseph, offers a mid-mountain alpine ski area, between about 870 and 1,150 metres' altitude, equipped with drag lifts and a chairlift, with pistes of all levels and a ski school.
A Nordic area, with a few cross-country loops and snowshoe routes, completes the offer. Like many mid-mountain resorts, the area depends largely on artificial snow, and its future is mentioned as uncertain in recent territory documents.
Outside winter, the commune is a starting point for hikes in the forests and on the Vosges ridges. It is advisable to check with the tourist office whether the lifts are open before going.
