Tourbière de la grande Pile
The best-known peat bog in the Haute-Saône is the Grande Pile, at Saint-Germain. It has provided a record of climate fluctuations over the last 135,000 years that serves as a reference for western Europe.
The département has other peat bogs too: Les Grands Faings at Beulotte-Saint-Laurent, the bog of the Étang du Boffy near Servance, Le Sigle at Ternuay, Les Couas at Servance, Les Murots at Corravillers and the Rosely bog at Plancher-les-Mines.
