Terrarium de Kerdanet Vivarium - Aquarium
The Terrarium de Kerdanet is at Châtelaudren-Plouagat, in the Côtes-d'Armor, not far from Guingamp. It is devoted to reptiles, French and exotic, and opens in season.
The indoor vivarium has four rooms housing animals from about fifty centimetres to more than five metres long, some two hundred specimens in all: vipers, grass snakes, pythons, boas and many others. Part of the visit also takes place outdoors, in a garden where some reptiles live in a setting close to their natural habitat, which reopens in spring.
Tours are guided and last about an hour to an hour and a half. They help children and adults alike to get to know these often feared animals, learn to identify them and understand their role in the environment. The terrarium opens at certain periods depending on the season and school holidays; it is best to check the calendar before coming.
