Aquarium Marin de Trégastel

Côtes-d'Armor, Bretagne

Opened in 1967 in Trégastel, on the Pink Granite Coast, the marine aquarium presents the underwater life of the Breton and Channel coasts: fish, crustaceans and other shore species. It stands close to the beach and the Boulevard du Coz-Pors.

Its originality lies in its architecture. The first hall is covered by a single block of pink granite of about 5,500 tonnes, 22 metres wide by 15. The visit is divided into three areas: the spray zone outside, the tidal zone in the first hall, then the deep zone in the second, which lets you follow the marine environment from the shoreline down to the deep sea.

The aquarium also carries out breeding work, with a hatchery for thornback rays and lobsters. In 2022, the exhibition "La Manche débusquée" enriched the visit. Since 2012, the aquarium has been run by Lannion-Trégor Communauté. Its modest size makes it a visit suited to families, and a good option on rainy days. Opening hours and prices can be found on the official website.
