Simiane-la-Rotonde
Simiane owes its fame to the Rotonde, the circular keep of the castle that crowns the hill on which the village spreads, a witness to a rich history.
Of the Agoult stronghold, the keep (twelfth century) remains: the rotunda, the castle courtyard redeveloped as a garden of aromatic plants and the south wing, recently medieval on the ground floor and Renaissance above. Simiane-la-Rotonde is one of the most beautiful perched villages of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
