Saint Lary Soulan

Hautes-Pyrénées, Occitanie

Saint-Lary-Soulan is a village of the Aure valley, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, at about 830 metres' altitude. Its commune climbs to more than 3,000 metres, under the Pic de Néouvielle, and is framed by the Néouvielle and Aulon nature reserves.

The ski resort is organised in three linked sectors: Saint-Lary 1700 (Pla d'Adet), Saint-Lary 1900 (Espiaube) and Saint-Lary 2400 (Vallon du Portet). The area has about a hundred kilometres of pistes of all levels. The village is linked to the pistes by a cable car and a gondola, and a mountain road leads to the Pla d'Adet.

The Pla d'Adet was equipped in the 1950s, and the hamlet of Espiaube became a lift departure point in 1964. In summer, the resort opens access to many hikes and to the high-altitude lakes of the Néouvielle massif, in a high-mountain Pyrenean setting.
