Rocher du Capluc

Lozère, Occitanie

The Capluc rock is an isolated limestone peak overlooking the confluence of the Gorges du Tarn and the Jonte, just above the village of Le Rozier, in Lozère. A summit cross and a small observation platform crown its top, reached by a path fitted with ladders and rocky passages that climbs through the box trees. From the viewpoint, the view takes in the cliffs of both gorges and the roofs of Le Rozier, whose twelfth-century church nestles at their feet. The site takes its name from a former priory, now vanished, and remains a favourite stop for hikers of the Gorges du Tarn Grand Site.
