Promenade en train touristique du Blanc-Argent
The Blanc-Argent is a metre-gauge railway line in the Loir-et-Cher and Indre, linking Salbris to Valençay across Sologne and the borders of Berry. It is today the only metre-gauge line in the Centre-Val de Loire region, operated as a regional TER service, with trains serving notably Romorantin-Lanthenay.
The line became an integral part of the regional network in 1987 and freight traffic ceased in 1989. Its southern part, towards Valençay, lost its regular rail service, replaced by coaches, and associations work to preserve this railway heritage. An electric-assist rail-bike offer is available on a section of the old track.
The landscape of forests, ponds and small stations is typical of Sologne. Timetables and the possibilities of tourist trains should be confirmed with operators before coming.
