Plage des Dames (Noirmoutier)

Vendée, Pays de la Loire

Plage des Dames is a small sand beach on the island of Noirmoutier, in the Vendée, nestled at the foot of the Bois de la Chaise, a pine grove of holm oaks and pines that descends to the shore. Its coloured beach cabins, jetty and rocks make a much-photographed place much appreciated by families.

The atmosphere is peaceful, and the path along the coast lets you reach other coves under the trees. The beach is partly uncovered at low tide, allowing long walks on the sand. In summer, it is very busy: come early in the morning or late afternoon.
