L'île aux papillons
L'île aux papillons, in the Vendée, is a tropical greenhouse kept at 26 °C, where visitors stroll among hundreds of tropical butterflies from French Guiana, Kenya, Madagascar, Costa Rica and the Philippines. They fly freely among exotic plants and flowers.
The visit explains the butterfly's life cycle: more than a thousand butterflies are born in the greenhouse every week, and the hatching room lets visitors watch them emerge from the chrysalis.
