Plage de Saint-Nicolas (Les Glénan)
Saint-Nicolas is the main island of the Glénan archipelago, off the south coast of the Finistère, in Cornouaille. This beach of fine, pale sand, bordered by turquoise water, is unsupervised. The island is very small, about 0.35 km², and a wooden path lets you go round it in about 1 km. It is classified as a nature reserve.
It is reached only by sea. From April to September, boats leave from Bénodet, Concarneau, Loctudy, Port-la-Forêt, Fouesnant-Les Glénan (Beg Meil slipway) or Trévignon, and the crossing takes about an hour from Concarneau. You may also anchor off the beach with your own boat.
The archipelago is renowned for sailing: the Glénans sailing school is based there. In summer, there are restaurants and a diving centre on the island; camping is forbidden.
