Plage de la Franqui
La Franqui is a seaside resort in the commune of Leucate, in the Aude, at the foot of Cap Leucate, between the Étang de Salses-Leucate and the Mediterranean. Its large sand beach is bordered by dunes and opens onto a landscape of cliffs, garrigue and lagoon.
The place is renowned for the wind, the tramontane, which makes it one of the best sites in France for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Families also find large beaches and calm water in the lagoon. A walk to the lighthouse and cliffs of Cap Leucate completes the day well.
