Plage de la Côte des Basques

Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

La Côte des Basques is a large beach in Biarritz, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, at the foot of high cliffs. It is one of the most famous surf beaches in Europe, and its long regular swell particularly suits beginners and longboard enthusiasts. On clear days, you see the Spanish Pyrenees in the distance.

The beach is narrow and almost entirely covered at high tide: check tide times before settling in. The stairs that descend from the cliff and the belvederes offer fine viewpoints over the ocean. It combines with discovering Biarritz, the Rocher de la Vierge and the Grande Plage.
