Peyreleau

Aveyron, Occitanie

A former fortified village on the first slopes of the Causse Noir, in the Aveyron, Peyreleau has a spectacular position at the confluence of the Tarn and the Jonte, directly opposite the village of Le Rozier on the Lozère bank. Its narrow lanes and the keep of the Château du Triadou overlook the meeting of the two rivers.

The village marks the entrance to the listed site of the Tarn and Jonte gorges, inscribed with the whole of the Causses and Cévennes as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape of agro-pastoralism. It is also the classic starting point for the Vases de Sèvres viewpoint or the Rocher du Capluc, which tower several hundred metres above the gorges.
