Parc Ornithologique du Marquenterre
It was created in 1973, in a 220-hectare area of dunes, forests and marshes reclaimed from the sea. Part of the Bay of the Somme nature reserve, it welcomes thousands of birds every year that stop for a few hours or a whole season: Siberian sandpipers, barnacle geese from the Arctic, spoonbills returning from Africa...
Each season brings different encounters.
The educational trail offers an introduction to identifying the most common birds.
The observation trails, 3.5 or 5 kilometres long, let you discover avocets, shelducks and small waders displaying, resting or feeding, among others. Observation hides line the trails, and it is advisable to bring binoculars, which can be hired on site.
