Parc Mouton Village
The Parc Mouton Village is a discovery park at Vasles, in the Deux-Sèvres, in the heart of the Gâtine countryside. It covers seven hectares of nature and is a designated LPO bird refuge.
The park is devoted first of all to sheep. A lambs' garden with a sound trail presents about twenty sheep breeds from around the world, and a Sheep House tells the story of man and sheep and of life on a Gâtine farm, with automata and a projection. Visitors can watch shearing demonstrations and bottle-feed lambs.
An arboretum of about four thousand trees of more than a hundred species offers relaxation and a botanical dimension. A mini-farm and a shop complete the visit, with pony rides, a national competition for Ouessant sheep and seasonal events. The park opens seasonally, from April to November; dogs are not admitted.
